Not really, if you think about it and break it down, you see why they chose the World Trade Center...This commercial clearly aired mainly in New York state and it's main audience was business people...Business people fly a lot and work in New York City and with the WTC being the world's largest office complex at that time and symbolised business transactions and success, it's no coincidence why they chose the WTC and NYC as the setting...even the phrase at the end says it all...but it is ironic.

If you look carefully, the airplane seems to be flying away from the Twin Towers.

Of course, one must ask.. is this very commercial the reason the terrorists felt compelled to fly two airplanes into the WTC? I can imagine them sitting around, seeing this commercial, and having an "A Ha!" moment.. unfortunately.

9/11 aside, this commercial is really a gem.. it shows what a proud, optimistic, airline American was pre-9/11.
