Ronan Tynan, one of the Irish Tenors, sings of Annie Moore, the first immigrant to process through Ellis Island in 1892. The photos are from our trip to Ireland and from the Ellis Island archives. Enjoy!!!

  • Oh I like this song very much, it evokes such passion and memories of Ireland and Ronan sings it so beautifully. Very nice. Thank you dglankler for sharing this lovely song and video. Bless The Emerald Isle.

  • Bossco in Canada.

Why did God make Ireland so beautiful? And why were so many of her Sons and Daughters forced to leave their beloved Isle of Home. The history is long and tragic, but somehow the Spirit of Ireland has lived and added splendidly to the culture of the world.Always on the mind,Isle of Innisfree

  • Love this song we are doing it in our project proud to be irish :)

  • Great song and splendid performance by Ronan Tynan. By this song and his way of singing you can almost feel te struggle between hope and and 'letting go' many emigrants must have felt. Tx dglankler and Dr. Tynan.

  • dis song makes me proud of my country :) xxx

  • Ireland has indeed a long and tragic history. And once again we have a new chapter in Irish history called the, ' Lost Generation ',where the young people have emigrated in their thousands, because of the corrupt political establishment, who have brought the country to it's knees.with no prospects for our young people.........The lost Generation..

  • Ronan Tynan is one of the most decent, respectable & talented individuals and I do NOT agree with what was done to him in New York by a minority of bigoted individuals.

  • I'm so glad my mother is Irish. I love Ireland, it's a beautiful country and I can't wait to go back.

  • I'm from Cobh, county Cork where the statue of Annie and her 2 brothers stands pointing at where she boarded the ship that took her from this country. Today, over 100 years later, young Irish people are still being 'forced' to leave their families, friends and homes to find a better future. I love this country but I'll probably be one of those leaving.
