this guy is a wild child and a great virtuoso...his Ravel is great too! Here he invokes all of Scriabins demons with relish....the piano is a little too juicy...like a rock piano elton John might use but other wise...Wow!
My problem with the song is the recording, when the volume goes up on the high pitches it sounds terrible, i think it is because of the recording, because im sure live the changes in volume should put a lot of emotion to the piece
This is really a great performance of this phenomopiece; allowed to build with the momentum carrying through to the conclusion. Better than many recorded versions. A good night for Vitoria-Gasteiz ;)
It seems to be a habit of how to write scriabin. I understand that I watch sonata No. 7. He seems to have a habit to write a forthcoming word after Poco a poco before. Please for your information.
I have always taken the passage leading into the alla marcia as being accel poco a poco, then ritard for the last quarter note before alla marcia. this is in keeping with the mark accel. poco a poco about 10 bars later.
The other thing where Scriabin seems not really to be followed is one the last page, in the "Piu vivo." Look closely at the RHYTHM of those last 3 L.H. notes of each measure! It seems this is not being followed ..... Or perhaps it is, but if so, the clarity isn't sufficient ..... I really can't tell which it is.
But again, I should repeat: This is a TERRIFIC performance.
There are a couple of parts where Scriabin's instructions are not followed and which I think suffer for this. Both of them are toward the end:
(1) The passage leading into the "Alla marcia" is marked (interestingly) "...... poco ...... a ....... poco ......ritard......" It doesn't have to be a CONTINUOUS rit., but -- I do sort of a fluctuation between accel. and rit., with an overall rit., with the "Alla marcia" then being very deliberate and ponderous.

CORRECTION to my post about the passage leading up to the "Alla marcia":
I said it is marked "...... poco ...... a ....... poco ......ritard......"
I was MISREADING it.
I thought the "...poco...a...poco..." refers to the "rit" that FOLLOWS it.
Actually it refers to the "accel" that PRECEDES it.
Sorry for my error!

Do you know whether his manuscript says so that?
I am worried about the point for some time; and look for his manuscript.
