Gameplay from Munchkin playing on the Philips Videopac G7000 aka Magnavox Odyssey 2 retro games console.

This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's simply a quick demonstration of the game so that anyone not familiar with these old games can see what it looks like.

Any opinions or comments I make regarding these games should largely be taken with a pinch of salt.
They are usually based on my first impressions after a very brief play.Retro gaming.

  • Do you have Conquest of the world?

  • No, I don't have that one.

I only have a very few games for this system, and there are videos of all of them on my channel.

  • why did they take out the k.c.

  • Good question. I don't know.

That happens a lot in gaming though, different regions get different names.

Do the letters K.C. have some significance in the US? They don't mean anything to me, in the UK, so maybe it's something to do with regional or cultural relevance.

  • Yeah, it's very similar.

There are dots to eat though... but they move around. If I'm not mistaken, this game was released a year or so before Pac Man made it onto the atari 2600. In terms of gameplay, it's actually better.

  • Pac-Man???

  • The problem with all these older consoles is that the sticks were wired 8-way. I don't think the 4-way games registered only the cardinal directions - where pressing into the diagonals meant both directions were input simultaneously - but even if they did, it meant that there was dead space in the diagonals, which gives almost the same behavior. This was one reason Pac-Man for the Atari 2600 sucked such ass.

  • You might like Brotherhood of Leet on my youtube channel - a re-imagining of WW2 dramas like Band of Brothers as if they were set during the 8 bit wars of the 1980s where Nintendo and Sega are waring nations.

  • I've made two videos on videopac/odyssey 2 as well and I figured they would be good ' video responses '.

    Excellent videos you make.

  • it just sounds better
