ZDNet Executive Editor David Berlind suggests that CRAP or Content, Restriction, Annulment, and Protection, is a catchier phrase than DRM - Digital Rights Management. Why does he think this technology is crap? Once you've bought music or other content to play on one device, it won't play on any other device because of the proprietary layer of CRAP.

  • C.R.A.P Doesn't stand for Content Restriction Annulment Protection, it stands for what it says crap... lol

  • Good that someone out there speaks out!

  • If you want to avoid CRAP, don't buy Ipods, Microsoft, protected CDs etc. Simple solution.

Go alternative, plenty of that around and best of all it is much cheaper since you don't have to pay for CRAP brand names.

  • iPod and Zune: King and Queen of DRM

  • the idea that any mac ipod user would buy an mp3 player that's PC based is crazy so all of this is a moot point, plus there's so much third party software that removes DRM anyway.
