  • @simos901 The movie doesnt have to be factual and true to life.It could be a comedy portraying a serial killer who is raising a family.Because they see it in a movie, there are people out there that will think that serial killers make good parents.Movies are often time "statements" made by writers with an agenda. If they do achieve anything, it is shaping your opinion while they make their money. It is the business of entertaining people. They dont save lives, feed the hungry or house the homeless.

  • @simos901 Please sit back and relax. I am not attacking you because of your love for the cinema. You take movies at their face value. Thats fine. simos, if I write a poem and I have an underlying agenda you might say that it is not just a poem, it is some kind of "statement". I am attempting to change your opinion about the subject of my poem. Thats what a lot of movies are. They are statements. Many people would not have an opinion of many aspects of life in not for what they have seen in movies.

  • @simos901

which is actually disregarding everything that has to do with movies.

I dont live my life through movies, since you seem worried about that. I just said movies is , objectively , a more "valuable" kind of entertainment . More "valuable" than , say , watching soccer ,since you might actually get something for you out of it,and not just a temporary way to have fun.

About actors,i ve not met anybody and didnt say they are any good or bad, they are people just that. I was referring to your statement that they "achieve" nothing

  • @simos901 Their movies do not awaken my emotions or my intellect. I dont need them for that purpose. I have a life that does that for me. I do not live my life through movies. While I do enjoy what they do for entertainment purposes and temporary relief from the ills of reality I do not put them on any pedestal. You should not either. They are pretenders, not heroes. They pretend to be us. But in their real lives, they are often arrogantly pathetic people.

  • @TomWeiss0

How clueless is this comment? Actors achieve nothing but make money?

So i guess you dont like movies..Which is sad because movies has always been a part of life. Movies they are called now, theater in the earlier years.

In simple words,it is a form of entertainment that, apart from just entertaining us,it awakens our emotions, sometimes, our intellect, sometimes.Which are the senses that makes us human. I hope you 're not missing it

  • I love actors. They entertain me. But, all they are are actors. People that ACT like other people. They achive virtually nothing but make money. Kirk Douglas is a great ACTOR. He is not a spartan. He acted like a spartan. He was not a pirate on a ship. He ACTED like a pirate on a ship. Dont put these guys on a pedestal. If your gonna worship someone, worship the first responders at the scene of an accident. Worship the soldiers that fight for our freedom. Dont worship actors.

  • This guy is bald, fat and short. But everyone including me just love him.
