Like Gabe said, piracy is a service problem.

Its not as easy as just saying that a person should just not "steal" or "pirate" because if they arent directly doing it, theyll always find indirect means to do it.You quickly find that you will actually have to restrict freedom (and remove freedom) in order to achieve personal freedom to profit forever.I can't, for example, record electrical signals, airwaves, or capture light if i have the power to.I cant (now) even sell things I buy when im done using it.Its absurd to expect this from ppl.

@SuperQweertyuiop Knowledge should be free? The person who put his time compiling that knowledge and delivering it in a useful form to you is not entitled to any benefit? But someone who builds you a widget is? I can understand pirating and companies make idiotic distribution decisions which seem intent on limiting their markets, but knowledge will be free when scholars get free room and board I imagine.

@officialvangcreative Of course not, but something as important and universal as language shouldn't cost £319.99 per language. It should at the very least be made affordable.
-
@SuperQweertyuiop you genuinely think it's free to produce books, movies, etc?

@SuperQweertyuiop Don't use consoles...

Heeh i have stopped pirating some time ago. Off course i dont play as much as i used to either. ¨I only buy the best AAA titles and ussually when their at half price, since with the DLC ,internett requirements and so forth their hardly worth more than half price. Off course Indie titles i want i buy full price.
Then you got great companies like Ubisoft thats realy hurting from piracy. How do i know that ? Because their anti piracy schemes prevents me the customer from buying it!!

Oh, and Rosetta Stone - They are so overpriced. I don't care how much work and effort went into making it, knowledge should be free.

Someone needs to come up with a way to pirate DLC in console games. Before DLC you got the whole game without having to pay for extras - Now I can't play a fighting game without some character being released as DLC. And they have the nerve to call us the thieves? They are the biggest conmen going.
Here's a quick tip for all you producers concerned with losing a profit because of digital piracy. Price your products reasonably and we will gladly buy them. Charge $40-50 for Photoshop and we will pay for it, charge $400 and we will laugh as we download it for free. Even if you could stop all digital piracy, which you have no chance of doing, the only thing it would mean is the death of your brand as the public transitioned to freeware alternatives that are just as effective.

Stephen Fry talking sense here - the vast majority of people have used pirated software - who has £600 plus to spend on Photoshop???? New releases of Games over £40 !!!!
Music and software industries need to stop ripping off the public and then crying in their Bentlys at the thought of loosing a few quid.
