By a better air rifle, try a RWS rifle.

Red ryder is underpowered for the job

@VonAwesome If you live in an urban city then it might be illigeal to shoot an air rifle, i live in canada as well (southern ontario) and it is in my city.I had a problem with them to, so I found a good spot in my yard where I could stay hidden and took care of them from there. As for the gun it was a benjamin trail np (735 fps) I have a PAL so i can own one. The red ryder is not anywhere close enough to the power level you want. Look for a .22 at least 475 fps.

Awesome. I have an infestation of the things. They got into the back wall of our house! Sometimes we can hear them scurrying around in there. I wan't to get rid of them when I see them in our yard. Thing is, in Canada I don't know if it's legal for me to dispose of them with an air rifle. My Red Ryder Daisey (I really have one) should be able to do it...but I wanna kill not wound or maim. Don't wanna be cruel.

Check your local laws. I am sure that there is a small game hunting season in Canada. And since they are considered a nuisance animal, you should be able to kill them anytime. But check your laws to be sure.
