I know, I know , stop picking it apart and just enjoy it , i did and still do ,it may be corny ,but sure fun considering what America was going through at the time it premiered and ran ,it was pure escapism .

Even kept the premise of -NO - married couples sharing the same bed, is that so, um...how do you explain Herman and Lily from The Munsters ? Ah..njoi

This is totally a Marilyn Monroe inpersonation. When MM died so young, there was a void that Tv tried to bridge with characters like Ginger and Marilyn on the Munsters. Ginger allowed the public to believe Marilyn was not gone but just lost on an island somewhere. So Marilyn.

Whereas Marilyn on the Munsters showed us how being different from everyone else (because she was so "ugly") ridiculously cast her as an outcast. Again, a metaphor for MM real life.

@flenif2247 very interesting assessment. I never stopped to think about it in that way but you are absolutely right. It was a substitute for MM and an attempt to bridge that gap that her death had on the public. What I like about Tina Louise is she added her own brand of comedy to the character of Ginger along with impersonating MM. GI wouldn't have been the hit it was without her. It's very similar to I LOVE LUCY where as everyone perfectly cast. Nobody can fill these parts as well.
