This Disgraceful video was published by the European Commission for a campaign designed to attract more women to a career in science. The commission said that the video had to "speak their language to get their attention" and that it was intended to be "fun, catchy" and strike a chord with young people. "I would encourage everyone to have a look at the wider campaign and the many videos already online of female researchers talking about their jobs and lives,"
The original video was taken down after it received so many negative comments.

wow first that was the shittiest analogy because all you did was show that SOMETIMES talking in generalizations may be pointless for example saying most people who major in math like math is not a pointless generalization. Also most people who do heroine have withdrawal symptoms is not a pointless generalization.
2nd where do you get your stats from? I'm quite sure it's Asians that are the highest rates in college yes true quite alot of african immigrants that study here but alot also dont

It's not a generalisation, idiot. It's a fucking fact. The generalisation would be "Oh, he's an African immigrant, he's likely to have a graduated College". Do you seriously not know what a generalisation is?

Ok fine so you admit that generalizations are not useless in most cases. good. And yes you saying that as to say they are the highest rate of graduation means by default that most who go to college graduate(thats how you test that claim silly you compare it to the number of whites, Asians, etc that go to college and graduate).
"It is pointless to know that violent crimes are committed by males" I never thought I'd here a feminist say that lol but hey you do your "own type of feminism"

It's not about "most Africans that go to college graduate". And no, the stereotype was about Blacks, which African immigrants are part of.
It's pointless to talk about violent criminals being (young) males, if we aren't talking about (young) male criminals or their victims. And if you are talking about male violent criminals, then it's pointless to talk about female violent criminals.
When we are talking about something specific, generalisations are useless.

(con) btw generalization =/= stereotype automatically
you still have not proven that making generalizations are all pointless Since you are so hung up on the fact that generalizations are pointless tell me is it a pointless generalization to say that most victims of rape are women? Is it a pointless generalization to say that most doers of violent crimes happen to be male? Is it a pointless generalization to say Most people affected by heart disease are over weight? what is inductive reasoning.

I wasn't making a distinction to prove anything ass. you were. I'm not arguing about Africans making up the highest rate of graduates retard. whether or not they immigrate or not I was not questioning that. Either way you are saying most Africans who go to college here graduate, with that data. Its you whom doesnt know how statistics and research is conducted to say that it isn't using generalizations. tho tbh the stereotype we 1st spoke was about Black Americans not African Immigrants but w/e.

You fucking idiot. African exchange students that graduate do NOTHING to influence the African IMMIGRANT graduation rate.
Not most graduates are Africans, retard. African immigrants graduate at the highest rate. It has nothing to do with testing whether or not graduates are African, it's to do with whether or not African immigrants have graduated or not. You are either really, really stupid, or a troll. Either way, I see no point in responding to you again.

(con) I didn't know math majors are the only ones that study trends on graphs but ok dumbass. I saw that comment but that still does not redeem your claim that generalizations are pointless. if you are now changing your argument that
"Speaking in generalizations is pointless on the internet, in the comments section, when we aren't speaking about trends on a graph"
Now another question would be did that guy that you were arguing with have evidence or not but I'm really not going to get into that

First off "people who come to study are not immigrants"
you are so stupid. when did I say immigrants? and whether or not they are here on exchange or staying for good. The are coming here to study(hence they did not stay in their country or go there for school)
You retract nothing because you are a dumbass but it's ok I guess(not really) That is a generalization because in saying that they graduate at higher rates you would have to test that most graduates are Africans dumbass lean research.

People that come to a country to study are not immigrants, doofus. Immigrants that also study are immigrants, not foreign/exchange students.
I retracted nothing; I further explained what I meant and quoted explicitly, word for word, "what point is there to be speaking in generalisations if we aren't math majors describing trends on a graph?" Click on (Show the comment) if you don't believe me.
I'm not saying that most Africans graduate. I stated a fact that contradicts generalisations.
