Guns used in self-defense over 2.5 million times a year

Please keep all comments and debates civil, no vulgarities, ECT...

Keep in mind that a person doesn't have to shoot the gun to use it in self-defense, often just showing a gun is enough to stop a crime and sometimes hold a suspect at bay.

even if you have a gun, the bad guys also have, so you can be killed anyway. In countries where guns are not legal, bad guys never carry guns, so it is harder for you to get killed, maybe it is easier for you to get stolen the mobile phone

kaikovich: You are a liar. Where guns are illegal, law-abiding citizens don't have guns only criminals have guns; minus the authorities. I suppose think the authorities are never corrupt or derelict or incompetent or just plain understaffed.

kaikovich: Maybe some countries that have gun bans have less crime. However many countries that have gun bans have more crime and much more violent crime. Let's take Mexico for instance, guns are essentially illegal, yet it is more dangerous than being in Iraq or Afghanistan. Gun and other type of violent crime is rampant in Mexico where guns are essentially banned.

BOTTOM LINE IT IS BETTER TO BE ARMED THEN NOT .AT LEAST WHEN YOU ARE ARMED YOU CAN DEFEND YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY.IF YOU ARE FOR GUN CONTROL CALL A COP,WAIT UNTIL HE OR SHE ARRIVES.USUALLY AT THAT TIME YOU ARE DEAD OR SERIOUSLY INJURED.A GUN IN HAND IS WORTH 10 COPS ON THE PHONE. @kaikovich you have obviously never had someone break into your house and try to beat you to death with a wooden bat. I have personally been hit with an aluminum bat and I can tell you that its no joke and can easily do just as much damage as a gun. Now just imagine that guy with a bat and about 4 more guys breaking in to rob you using only pipes and sticks and crowbars because they know that you dont have a gun to stop them with. now what do you do? wrestle 5 armed men out of your house?

@kaikovich False, still a lot of guns in the uk even though they're mostly banned. Only now the cops need guns over there, they didn't use to when the citizens had guns. If I'm going to get shot I like to think I can at least shoot back.

@kaikovich Gun crimes are at an all time high in both England and Australia... they both have strict bans on firearms.. Japan has very high gun crime, firearms are completely illegal in private hands.. Lowest gun crime rate in the world... Switzerland.. where every man of military age is required by law to have a state issued assault rifle, and women are encouraged to but not required to also.
