Check out my backstage interview with Rob Zombie at Rockfest 2010
Rob Zombie is a solo artist and film director from Haverhill, Massachusetts. But he got his start in entertainment as the lead vocalist of the band White Zombie back in the 1990's. During their time, White Zombie sold millions of records and was featured regularly in movies, television and networks like MTV.
However things began to change in 1998 when Rob Zombie released his first solo album Hillbilly Deluxe. Featuring the smash hits Dragula, Superbeast and Living Dead Girl, the album proved that Zombie could succeed as a solo artist, selling over 3 million copies worldwide. As a result, White Zombie disbanded and has not since released a record.
As a solo artist, Rob Zombie followed up Hellbilly Deluxe with another popular album, The Sinister Urge. But when two of his band members Mike Riggs and John Tempesta left Rob Zombie to form a similar band, Scum of the Earth, he decided to venture into another area of entertainment.
Rob Zombie's first Hollywood film House of 1000 Corpses was released in 2003. And while the film was not a commercial blockbuster, it did make a profit for him and his distributor, and went on to develop a cult like following. Rob Zombie followed up with a sequel called The Devil's Reject in 2005.
Later that year, Rob Zombie returned to the studio to record his newest album called Educated Horses. Featuring Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5 and former Alice Cooper drummer Tommy Clufetos, the album was a new style of music for Rob Zombie, featuring more of an alternative rock sound. And while the sound of his music changed, the popularity of his songs did not. Educated Horses was yet another commercial success, debuting at #1 on the Rock Albums Chart.
Rob Zombie followed up his latest popular album with his first commercial blockbuster in Hollywood with the remake of Halloween. Considered a prequel in the Halloween franchise, the film grossed over $80 million worldwide and went on to become the highest grossing movie ever of the Halloween franchise.
Rob Zombie then released a sequel to Halloween, which also did well commercially grossing $40 million.
Today Rob Zombie has become a household name. In 2010 he released a brand new album called Hellbilly 2, featuring his latest hit single Sick Bubblegum. Zombie is also said to be working on a new movie called Tyrannosaurus Rex.
And with his continued success in music and his rising career in Hollywood, it seems only a matter of time before the whole world gets a taste of the Rob Zombie phenomenon.

I completely understood, and I agree his versions did suck. But, I still wouldn't say he fucked it up.

How the fuck, did he fuck it up? People's love of the original movies, hasn't gone away... So, the franchise is NOT fucked up. Making two movies that were lack luster, doesn't fuck up a whole franchise. He can't make music? ...White Zombie made awesome music...

For someone who is a shit director and an awful musician. He's doing pretty fucking well. And since you're not directing films and making music, Shut the fuck up and stop complaining.
