I am a new guitarist, I started playing a couple years ago. My teacher, who is a Hendrix/Page worshiper, ask me what kind of style and tone I am gong for. I said "Mick Mars" and he just chuckled and blew me off. I said I was fucking serious, and fired him. Listen to his tone on Shout and Theater. THAT is metal guitar to me. Sure I love the classics too, but Mick is just badass.

I have nothing but respect, love and admiration for Mick, such a kick ass performer. That terrible disease of his has never been an obstacle for Mick, which I really admire. Oh and...I'm probably gonna get a lot of bad comments for saying this but I don't give a shit :) MICK MARS>>>SLASH...ALL THE MOTHERF*CKING WAY.

Mars is underrated mainly because of his low key personality and the fact he's basically a "team player" who doesn't show off a whole lot.

look I'm 20 years old and I think Mick Mars kicks ass. They should've gave mick the nickname Slash because his solo's are like a slash of thunder. He is definitely if not the most under rated guitar players ever.
