This is a great idea. Did you just grow them inside then?

Until the police tear down your front door because they think you're growing drugs. Welcome to America!

Wondering if you got spuds in the additional layer of soil you added. I've read that only works with certain species of potatoes, that many types won't send out additional tubers off the main trunk. What kind of wield and size did you get?

@ModernSurvivalBlog I grew a few potatoes (ground, outdoor garden) this past summer...first attempt. I only covered them with more dirt once, so my harvest was weak...but, now thinking of growing a container indoors for winter to perfect my skills for next summer....great idea! Gravel and sand for the bottom, I'm thinking; my neighbor told me sandy soil is best for potatoes?! Thanks for the video, and the drying tip! Happy Harvesting! :)

Good video. But the best part was your little audience member in the beginning. Such a good student, very curious and observant listener...I was impressed and he had me laughing. But then : ( I guess he lost interest and got bored - he actually yawned - and decided to make one last & final observance via his best, most reliable sense (sniff) to make sure he wasn't missing out on anything before leaving!

what about watering them? How often do you water them? Also did u drill holes in the bottom of the container?

@zuuy22
I did drill holes in the bottom, about a dozen, 3/8 inch, covered with landscape fabric to allow drainage but to keep dirt from clogging holes. One thought I had afterward, the fabric itself may clog from dirt in the fabric pores, and it might have been better to fill the bottom with pea-gravel about an inch or two instead.
