In one of the interviews I listened to on CBC this morning, almost all his poems are about love and women. He doesn't mention names, except for Marianne and Janis Joplin and with the JJ one he apologizes for being indiscreet about it. He also says he started with the poetry and guitar playing to get the attention of women. Bet he has his share and someone else's now.

Google him on CBC - most of the early ones are radio. The URL is too long. I'll post it separately.

I like Bird on a Wire when he sings it with the last verse being "don't cry, don't cry anymore, it's over, it's done, it has been paid for, etc." I'm not fond of the version with the last verse about a cripple on a wooden crutch and a woman in a darkened doorway.

Indeed it does touch your soul. His songs say different things to me at different times, but I always come away from him feeling uplifted. I don't know how he got the rep of being melancholy and pessimistic - the bard of bummer. I've never thought of him that way. He tells the truth straight from his heart into your heart.

I have all his CDs, but find I like the concert editions much better than the studio editions. I like the way he adds extra verses and such. Plus he just has so damn much charisma, it's hard to take your eyes off him.

He says he only knows 5 chords. He learned that flamenco style of playing from a Spanish kid he ran into in Montreal. He gave LC 3 lessons, didn't show for the 4th and when LC checked the boarding house, found out that he had killed himself.

Read that one and just finished the one by Ira Nadal. I prefer the one by Nadal.

Anthony Reynolds also wrote one - it was OK. I won't read it again, but I will read the other two again.
