This is the portable version of my backyard fire pit. It's a propane fueled controlled Fire tornado that can whip flames up to 6 feet and beyond.
This project started about 5 years ago when I buried a mini Webber BBQ in the ground and plumbed subterranean air lines (garden hose) to it with a squirrel fan on the other side. These lines were just to provide extra air to a standard wood burning fire pit.
I rebuilt the unit twice, after a season of use, abuse, and weather had destroyed the previous iteration. On the fourth rebuild I decided to "Go Big".
Inspired by Copperfield's Fire Tornado Illusion and Nate Smith's MASSIVE Pyro Vortex, I set out to control the fire in my own miniature tornado.
About 60lbs of propane later and 80+ hours of messing with the thing into the wee hours of the morning, I finally had enough understanding of the mechanism.
Absolutely everyone who sees the thing wants one, and everyone has been bugging' me to make a portable version, so.... I've got two working portables.
This one is nearly identical to my backyard unit. The second, which will be posted shortly, is scaled down to about half size.
Please leave feedback and give me a thumbs up if you like it. Subscribe and you'll get notice of new stuff. I'm considering offering custom units for sale if there is serious interest.
this is some hardcore shit right here
