cheap hair spray or wd40 works pretty good

How long can you wait to fire a potato after you put in the hairspray?

well it matters on the size of ur combustion chamber if its too large it will be hard to fire if your spark is not in the middle. too small you have to let air in so its will have the right mixture to fire.... its about experimenting once u get the size of the chamber and were to have the spark its hard to have a miss fire.

@narkman1 the one i just made i could only find the square screw end caps, so i put a grill igniter in the end, and it works awesome, im going to make a video tomorrow, but your right on once u play around enough to get the right fuel air mixture its very hard to have a miss fire, ive alreayd went through 50 pounds of potatos

the spark does not have to be in the middle, it will work anywhere inside as long as it is a strong spark it can be right up against the wall of the chamber. and the air to hairspray ratio ive found that works best is about 2/3 air to 1/3 spray, so a little under 2 seconds for the average size combustion chamber
