My guess is this: the story of the skit is that the lifeguard got sidetracked because of some accident, which led to his leg in a cast, so he has to do something to occupy his time on the beach, since he can't in the water. Which led to the birth of the song that he starts, and to which the other of hi friends chime in on for fun, so Morgan won't feel so lonely after suffering a broken leg.
