The Electronic Theatre screening at Siggraph 2006 started with a pre-show event: The World's Largest Etch-A-Sketch. All members of the audience were given a wand with two sides, one red and one green. Each side transmitted a signal, which was picked up by sensors on either side of the screen. To operate the Etch-A-Sketch each half of the theatre corresponded to one knob on the Etch-A-Sketch. For example, in order to draw a horizontal line from left to right, the whole left half of the theatre would have to wave the red side of their wand at the screen. The other half of the theatre was affecting the vertical moves.

  • Its taking feedback from the colors of the cards its reading (flipping it back and forth) and what up or down angle it is at (up and down control). That is the best I can give.

  • do you think it works like a nintendo wii? cuz it has a sensor that you put on the tv and all and the infrared sensor of the projector and the audience using...wahtev that ist haha...must do the same thing basically..??...im just wonderin :) i got no technological knowledge.

  • its like alright which 1 of u turned right

  • Its basically a huge projector attached to a computer that is using [an] infrared sensor(s) to read the cards people are using to control it. At least that is an educated guess on my part without doing any formal background research into the technology.

  • HAHA

  • Is that Will Ferrel talking? Lol.

  • hahahaha you're right!
