Season 6 is the last season dummy. They aren't stretching it out, they are doing the exact opposite. They made a deal with ABC like around season 3 to end the show after the 6th, because that's how much story they said they had left.

Lost is OK but they stole so many ideas from Peter Benchley's Amazon!!!
Amazon was much better show with more natural scenes and exciting storyline.
