This bird was seen Sunday afternoon February 28th 2010. It is a female Hairy Woodpecker. Mostly seen in Eastern Texas. But likes old trees like the ones that can be found in the Montopolis Tributary, in southeast Austin, between Frontier Valley Drive and US Hwy 183 (or Bastrop Hwy). Hopefully this natural beauty and wildlife can live undisturbed forever unless this land is sold to a company that will take all this away. This is one of the last parcels of land that has been undisturbed by development in southeast Austin.
