Better graphics than the NES version, MUCH worse sound.
I mean, where's that heroic clash theme when the Wizard fights someone?

I always get a laugh out of the dragon at the end. He just sits there thinking 'bloody wizards'.

Someone who prides himself on "having an extensive knowledge about videogames" and doesn't even know what an Amiga is... has nothing to pride himself on. Period. Yeah, when dealing with videogames, of course... but it's obvious he referred to them. Someone who think he has an extensive knowledge of history and doesn't know what happened prior to the WW 2, is a dunce. Period. u_u (Doubly dunce, since he thinks himself cultured.)

@cuoreviola89 Are you dumb enough to not know he means aside from not knowing what an Amiga is ? Most people dont even know what an snes is so he still has much of a right to pride himself as there is always something one doesnt know lol.
-
@jackbrokeheart you pride yourself and you don't know what an Amiga is? Nice....

Okay forgive me if people have been saying this in the comments over and over again but all you need too do too sleep on the straw is stand still on it not do a dance.

Those pesky arrows got me every time...

@vau0807 Sorry, didn't mean to come across sounding so defensive or directing that towards you. I just think it's a shame the Apple IIGS has been so ignored in retrospective history, particularly The Immortal and Zany Golf which are the only two games (that I know of) that originated on the GS and then ported everywhere else.
I'm curious about the music in the Genesis version, I've always thought FM synthesis can be very cool under certain circumstances (early Genesis game mostly!)
-
@Apple2gs Take it easy. It's good that you're such an Apple2GS fan, but please read my comment more carefully. I never stated that Immortal started life on the Genesis / Megadrive. Quite the opposite - I mentioned several excellent ports from the Amiga to the Genesis. Keep your gaming advocacy in perspective, okay?
-
@vau0807 The Immortal did *not* originate on the Sega Genesis. It originated as an Apple IIGS game, which unfortunately was scaled down on the Amiga, Atari ST, Genesis and NES. The Amiga version kept the graphics and animation intact, but is no where close for sound effects and especially music.
The original Apple IIGS version had a lush and rich sounding musical score for each level, plus the battle theme. It used the built-in Ensoniq 32-voice synthesizer that blew the Amiga away.

then you don't have an extensive knowledge of video games if you don't know what the Amiga is !

I remember renting this for my Colecovision. I got stuck on the worm room, and had to return it before I could solve it. The failure to finish this game haunts me to this day.
I feel very stupid for not knowing this (I pride myself on having an extensive knowledge of video games) but could someone tell me what an Amiga is?
