Ted Olson summarizes one of this term's highest-profile Supreme Court cases, which found that white firefighters from New Haven, Conn. could not be denied promotion because no minority candidates qualified. The ruling overturned the opinion of The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which included Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.

  • @liber8me black company? kiddin right?

  • Subject: nine err - wealth

    Anagram: The real winner

  • Np, and I mean it.

Until a firefighter refuses to rescue 'cuz of his/her victim's nationality, there's no controversy.

  • White corporate system????? Nice made up idea. The FDNY tests that Ihave taken and passes are based on merit of study. Just liberal whining

  • Whats up efferts, thank you

  • Here in CA white firefighters get passed over all the time. If there are three openings and the top five applicants are white, they'll get the required 2 parts white, one part 'other', no matter how far down the list they have to go.

Remember this when your bed is on fire. It's not the capability of the firefighter that counts, it's the COLOR!

    Ridiculous.

  • remember most standardized test are based on a white corporate system, this is nothing new it's just exposed that fact as being, indeed true

  • Im a NYC resident & mixed minority, yet I don't understand.

Our FDNY is an efficient force, prompt, & acclaimed. Why the fuck is diversity a focus?

Why should it be suspicious that any group or workforce is prevailed by whites? This reads "personal grief" all over it.
