What is this PTO port available on the 5-speed automatic for?

The PTO is a power take off. What it is sort of like an on-board generator for running things like winches, auxiliary fuel tanks, and plows. The PTO comes equipped with a high idle switch so it can run better.

the only thing chevys are good for is a tailgate warmer.

the tailgate warmer is for when its cold out and u have to push it off the road and so ur hands wont get cold

@powerstroker14 yea hows that ford that had to get bailed out by the goverment and then didn't have the balls to tell every one and they tolk more money then dodge and GM put together? ohh don't forget ford also had to get more money from the new york yankees. also my truck was built long before FIAT got into it but if i buy a new truck im fine with FIAT they make some of the best diesel engines and strongest construction equipment. to bad ford was not smart anough to find a good diesel

@ProudFordMAN I appreciate that you're a proud Ford man. I am too. But...

The tailgate step is an option and you don't have to have it on your truck if you don't like or want it. I don't see how adding useful options is a sissy move. There are a lot of people with bad knees, joints, short, getting old and/or fat and it's a big help to have it. Step Gate, Truck 'N Buddy, and StepIT are three manufactures of tailgate steps for the after market.. Clearly there's a demand for a tailgate step.

it wasnt howie that gave me a bad impression,ever since i first saw them i didnt like them. The tail gate is a "rugged" place personally i think that is just one more thing that it likely to break. I believe it was a sissy move on fords part, believe me i still like fords. And no.... my personal ego was not damaged because of a gm commercial.

I know it's been a year since you posted this message but you should really be ashamed of yourself for letting a Chevy TV commercial with Howey Long give you a bad impression of the tailgate step and got you stuck on the "man step" image.. It was a childish maneuverer on GM's part since they can't deliver the same quality and options and it's a shame that you let a TV commercial damage your personal ego. It's actually a very good option.

the 6.4 is sweet, but i'll stick with my 7.3 :-) 250k with no major repairs. it's just getting started ;-)
