This is the second video of my 8020 belt drive CNC in operation. I built it around 3 years ago and it has given excellent service. The belt drives are very accurate and makes a strong machine.

  • How do you design the 3D graphics?

  • @moffett8

I purchased the moose pattern from Vector Art 3D and used their free 3-D Machinist program to setup the tool path. I have V-Carve Pro which I use for 3-D patterns and V-Carve combinations. I do not have the ability (smarts) to draw in 3-D so if I need one I just buy it.

  • I used a .125 ball nose end mill and the stepover was .01 inches. The feedrate was 50 ipm.

  • @ecmarsh Get CamBam, allows you to import pictures and transform the lines and shades into heights in the program

  • Use a single bit for the whole thing? how far in between each pass?
