Nice tribute to Joe. Ned Kelly's best friend and right-hand man. He swore he would die at Ned's side and he did. It is possible he once said 'Here's to the days of Ben Hall' upon joining the Kelly gang. Moments before he died he toasted saying 'Here's to many more years in the bush for the Kelly gang'. Joe Byrne...bush poet, Opium addict and co-author of the Jerilderie letter. Alongside Ned Kelly he must have been one dedicated ally.
