On October 9th 2007 Westfield Derby opened. This is my video of the new centre using photographs and video I took on the opening day, apart from the nighttime photo at 02:28 which I took at night!

On its opening day, the centre attracted 150,000 shoppers.
As of 7th November 2007 More than 2.5 million shoppers have flocked to the Westfield centre since it opened. This is more than double the 1.2 million people who passed through the doors of the Eagle Centre in the same four weeks in 2006.

The £340m development houses more than 150 shopping units.
It has 105,800 sq metres of floor space. The development includes a 2,000-space multi-storey car park on the roof.
It also has an 800-seater food court.

On the very top of the shopping centre is the £30m, 12-screen Showcase Cinema de Lux, The UK's first Cinema de Lux which opened Friday 16 May 2008. For more info...

For ex-pats that have not been back to Derby for a few years you are probably wondering where is this place?, Well do you remember the old Main Centre, its on top of that area and streaches all the way down Traffic Street and a long way around London Road as well.

  • @MARTYOFTHEbTRIBE Right in the heart of the beast?

  • erm this actually isnt the derby one, but glad theres finally some attraction for derby

  • Yes this IS the Derby one.

  • Haha, man.

I live in Derby and I must say that I was quite... shocked... at just how familiar the Westfield centre looks...

It's just like Meadowhall in Sheffield if I'm honest, only the shops are a lot more expensive.

It's a beautiful building, granted... and very typical of this city... But they need some greater shops..

    PRIMARK PLS? :]

  • Primark is returning to Derby in 2008, where M and S used to be.

  • amazing

  • Really its quite boring now- Since like after a couple of weeks it got quite boring - once you done all the shops then theres nothing left to doo. There is new shops but like all the best ones are gone! lol

  • i love the new westfield and i think that the best shop there is BLOKE! BLOKE is a barber shop for men they make you very comfort with giving you a beer and if there is any waiting time there is a wii to go on. when having you haircut it is very comfortable with the comfy chairs and stoping all the hairs going on you they put a cape on you and a cutting collar to stop all the hairs going past you neck. i would recomend this barber shop to any men out there who is looking for a trim !!!!

  • yeah i live nere here/

its nice but its too much for derby :L

  • 1:56 i am on it!
