  • @yeah111ification Oh yes right... and you are basing that on what?

  • @soylentgreenb Dear,

That's something called "representative democracy". You vote for somebody or a party and they represent you and make decisions for you. It's the way it works in most European countries.

+ you need to have some patience, this is a pretty new system and it will take some time to develop and become more democratic.

  • Who are you mr. Rompuy? I don't remember voting for you. For that matter I don't remember voting for the Lisbon treaty either; in fact, as I remember it the few nations who held a referendum told you were to stick it and were sumarily ignored by their elected politicians.

You're storing up an immense, seething hatred in the peoples of Europe. When the pressure is finally released, it cannot be guaranteed that it will not be in the form of violence.

[I call upon the Prime Minister]

    Mister president,

    Dear colleagues,

The Swedish presidency has announced yesterday, that on the 19th of November it calls together a European Council, principally in order to appoint the permanent President of the European Council and the High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy. These appointments require a qualified majority in the Council.

  • For such a function a Prime Minister in function, and consequently member of the European Council, is no candidate. For this, his national mandate and responsibility in own country are too high.

  • If, however, in the European Council a consensus exists, then this man or this woman cannot refuse to accept this important European function.

This consensus according to the Swedish presidency is not present at this moment. This has been my approach, from the moment that this problem arose. Therefore have nor myself, nor my administration, nor the Belgian diplomacy undertaken any initiative on this subject, and await I the Council of following Thursday.

  • For the rest I read, hear and see what is being written. I often do not recognise myself in it. Nor in the good, nor in the bad that is being said about me. Each time I think my own thing about it, and carry on with my work in this country with full conviction.
