The awarding of Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees took place May 19 at the Western New England College School of Law 2007 Commencement ceremony at Springfield Symphony Hall. The Honorable James Rosenbaum, Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, served as keynote speaker and received an honorary Doctor of Law degree. Elwyn Brewster Quirk served as student commencement speaker. A native of Trinidad, Elwyn immigrated to this country at the age of 13. The School of Law awarded 157 J.D. degreees. Also, new this year was the awarding of the School of Law's first Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees. Six LL.M. degrees were awarded. The graduate program was created to help educate practicing attorneys in the expanding area of estate planning and elder law.
