This is a song John wrote about Warren H Williams, who freely admits, like many indigenous people stuck between cultures,he had a substance abuse problem that literally put him on his deathbed. This is the triumphant "against all odds" story of Warren's comeback.

  • The big news on John is he has 2 one off shows at the end of this month at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, an opportunity not to be missed!

  • Truly a great singer.

i wish he would come to the United States and play.

  • Johnson, John has toured the States a couple of times, most recently about 2 years ago. I spoke to him about it a while back and he wasn't sure if Americans 'got" his music or not and he had no plans to try again. He is now 63 and currently doing his 40 year career tour of Australian and New Zealand, but if you could really put some effort in over there to show that there is real interest, I could speak with him about the possibility of one last tour over there.

  • @christangey

are you like his his personal friend or something b/c i'd really like to meet him.

  • I have directed many videos with John and yes, he is a good friend, if you'd like to meet him the challenge is already there!

  • Why is it that some Yanks know this song, but I've never heard it before??

This is a beautiful song with beautiful scenery. I'm guessing it is NT or N WA. It's wrong that it is cheaper to visit NZ than it is to visit NT.

  • All shot around Alice Springs, NT.

  • The US may not "get" John's music & songs but try Canada. I would love to see John in Canada.

  • Just wanted to comment that John Williamson is an icon and one of my favorite all time singers...I'm from Florida and tell everyone I know what a tremendous contribution to music John Williamson is. Australia should be mighty proud... and although I've never had the chance to meet John, I'm sure he's one hell of a man!

  • I have a signed copy of his album from way back when, yes its vinyl and its in well loved condition and no I won't part with it ever!

  • Damn i miss his little commercial jingles for toyota on the john Laws show :(

  • Thanks for posting. I like this!

  • Good on ya John,This is what mate's are for.

  • @christangey: If you are in contact with John could you ask him very kindly to come back home to Vic for some gigs. I saw him in Geelong and it was absolutely fabulous, the way he weaves his songs and stories together.

Warren was crook that night, not that he let if bother him. An absolute professional all the way, I am glad he got on top of his issues. It saddens me that so many of his people, OUR people (we're all Aussies after all) go through this.

  • I'm from the US and I'd travel a good ways to see him if he came over again. Discovered him thanks to Steve Irwin's memorial service and now have 6-7 of his CDs. Tried to get another, but Amazon finally told me they couldn't provide it.

  • my idol would love to meet him
