The ACCC's (Association of Canadian Community Colleges) request for me to film my experience in job hunting in Canada. Their CIIP (Canadian Immigration Integration Project) gave my family a lot of tips and referrals which in turn were valuable tools in our transition in Canada.

  • wow..great Job ... I am also a teacher processing my immigration there ..can you give me an honest picture of Filipino teachers there? Do they have promising teaching jobs there?

  • Hello Loraine,

Thanks for your comment. My honest opinion for teachers from the Phils coming here: Be ready not to get into your line of work easily. You have to give it time. Have other options, ie training, not profit, or maybe even something else. This is why before you come in to Canada you have to psyche yourself that what you will actually do is a gamble and there are risks. Otherwise, you might end up bitter and disappointed.

  • That is why it is important to get as much information as you can, one of which is attending not just the DFA requird one but also the CIIP's. They will give you INFORMATION to get a more realistic point of view. They will not however give you a job. My wife for example, has more experience that I have, but she is supplying (substitute). I, on the other hand am teaching in an independent school. Both of us attended the CIIP workshop. Statistically too, not just for teachers, immigrants

  • do not get easily into their line of work. Teachers also have to get their licenses. You can start applying to have your credentials assessed, if you;re going to Ontario, by the Ontario College of Teachers, as soon as you get your visa.

Good luck and send word for anything I can assist you with.

    Erich
