  • The award of One Million dollars in Michael's name went to the Medal of Honor Society, not the family. As his father, our aim has been to continue Michael's legacy with charitable works through Michael's own Scholarship Foundation, with Naval Special Warfare Foundation and the Navy SEAL Warrior Fund. The family has not now or ever received or benefited from a charitable donation in Michael's name. We benefit in continuing Michael's life long charity to helping others. His Dad, Daniel J. Murphy

  • Mike is a true American Hero !!!!!! May God watch over his family.

  • I am reading Lone Survivor. It is an amzing accounting of an extremely fierce battle and the true heroism that even Hollywood can never capture in any movie or any of its fake heros. The SEALS in that battle are heros of biblical proportions. No honor is too much for such men of character and patriotism. God Bless the Murphy family for the sacrifices it has made for our country.

  • RIP :(

  • @modan5776 I am reading the book Seal of Honor and can't put it down, your son is a true inspiration, great person, true hero all around from a young man and growing into a Navy Seal. Semper Fi from a former Marine.

  • May he be remembered forever. The U.S. just named a destroyer in his name today. How proud his family must be of their son honoring their familys name.

  • Men like Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy are called the Real Heroes. i broke down while reading "lone survivor" .

I want to thank Mikes Family for his sacrifice to save his fellow Navy Seals. Thank u once again,May God bless u.

  • @modan5776

Sorry for your loss Mr. Murphy. I teared up reading Marcus's book about Michael and the others. I hope the movie is worthy of what they did..

  • Rest in peace Lt. Murphy. You and your men are not forgotten.

Mr. Daniel Murphy, i am so sorry for your loss. Your family is in my prayers.

  • He was a Penn State Graduate. Yesterday, 23 APRIL 2009, the PSU NROTC unit attended a service to dedicate a room in his honor. We had the honor to not just see the medal, but shake the hands of Lt. Murphy's father, mother, and brother. We all said, "Thank you."
