The intensive lymphoedema management programme, often referred to as combined decongestive therapy (CDT), aimsTo reduce limb volume, restore limb shape and improve skin and tissue condition (Ko et al. 1998). Daily treatment is commonly provided over a 3- to 4-week period using manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), multilayer bandaging, isotonic exercises, skin care and, for some, pneumatic compression pumps. This is followed by a maintenance phase of self-The pump can be used on patients with venous ulcers and/or open wounds as long as there are no signs of an untreated infection/cellulites. If you have cellulites you can use the pump Once antibiotics have been administered for at least 72 hours. Signs and symptoms for infection are: heat (hot extremity), rash, red streaks, pain and/or fever, etc. If one or more of these symptoms occur while under compression therapy treatment discontinue your treatment and contact your physician
