The funny thing about this video is not the purported fails by Dr. Lanka but the fact that the video author failed in his research. Bactrim for a start acts by interfering with the action of bacterial dihydrofolate reductase, inhibiting synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid which is an essential precursor in the de novo synthesis of the DNA nucleosides thymidine and uridine, starving bacteria as well as the human cells of two bases necessary for DNA replication and transcription.

So, which do you feel is more correct:

S Lanka at 2:16 -- "Bactrim destroys the genetic material of the bacteria."

Me at 2:34 -- "Bactrim does not damage DNA, it blocks the synthesis of folate, which is used to MAKE new nucleotide bases."

Bactrim, by the way, is a brand-name co-trimoxazole, a combination of two drugs that block de novo folate synthesis and nucleoside scavenger pathways, not just a DHFR inhibitor.

@C0nc0rdance 1:25 Telomerase is one type of the reverse transcription. Any logical thinking person will understand, that using protease inhibitors will cause blocking telomerase also, such way causing killing of the cells and slow death of organism. What didn't you get at this point?

RT is not a protease, it is an RNA dependent DNA polymerase, so I will assume you actually mean "nucleoside analogs". Telomerase activity in adults is at a very low level, except in cancer. The current generation nucleoside analogs have a higher affinity for HIV RT than telomerase, but it is a concern.

It's "folate", or "folic acid", never "folate acid". Bactrim does not directly harm DNA. Lanka was wrong.

He has not said that Bactrim affects directly DNA, he said Bactrim affects cell replication and harms this way DNA indirectly, as I already said. I seems to me you are trying to paint white to black. Corticosteroids are well known immune system supressors and so are stress hormones by the way. This is well studied and known to the public.

Yes, nucleoside analogs are toxic at high doses. No dispute there. Yet people live long and full lives on HAART.

He said quite clearly at 2:15, "this is why... they are so effective, because they are destroying the genetic material of the bacteria". This is false. Bactrim doesn't act on genetic material. It's a scavenger metabolism inhibitor. It's a simple mistake, but shows that he doesn't understand how the drugs work. Added to the other mistakes, he's not credible.

Let's face it. If Lanka was not one of the more educated, rigorous, unbiased and disinterested scientists.. If he wasn't exposing the truth about virology, Concordance would not have felt he was a threat. He would not have taken a half week to produce this desperate defense of the nearly 28 year old bankrupt theory that claims "HIV" as the causative agent of AIDS.
