I love how Kira defeats most of the enemy pawns without killing the pilots even though they keep gunning for his cockpit. That's some skill and a whole lot of patience. And more importantly rare compassion during war that makes Kira so distinct even from ace pilots: Setsuna, Shin, Heero etc.
