This video is designed for beginning German learners and gives an introduction to the case system in German. Examples illustrate what cases are and how they are used. Part 1 discusses the difference in cases as the difference in "roles" that a noun can play in a sentence. Basic grammar (subject, object) in English is recapped to show the parallels in German.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! It has helped me a lot

I am just learning German and I will make sure to share this with my classmates

  • @israaeel Glad that you fount it useful.

  • You have the 4 "German" cases in English. If you understand the difference between he / him / to him / his, then you understand the difference between nominative (he) / accusative (him) / dative (to him) / genitive (his). So you can say that "he sees him" and "him sees he" have the same meaning in German because the form of the pronouns shows you who´s doing action (he) and who´s receiving action (him). That means the word order isn´t important for the meaning of the sentence. Flexibility ;-)

  • @Hardy30680 Very good way to explain it! More videos to come soon that will explore more uses for the cases - mainly certain verbs and prepositions.
