Rod Black was the emcee at the 2009 Induction Ceremony of Larry Walker, Ernie Whitt, Bernie Soulliere and Doc Miller to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum in lovely St. Marys, Ontario. Early in the ceremony, he read a poem that he wrote, entitled "Baseball Is ..." and received an extended standing ovation. We have had numerous requests for printed copies of "Baseball Is ..." and I am glad to accommodate anyone who emails me, Tom Valcke, at tom@baseballhalloffame.ca ... but in order to fully appreciate the beauty of this work, that to me, rivals Ernest Thayer's "Casey At The Bat", you have to hear Black deliver it. Rod Black is an awesome person, a professional in every respect, a baseball junkie, and a giver. His passion for baseball bleeds out of this classic.
