Still using that swift. Where did you get the plans/instructions from?

@vovvo6 I need a swift! I've been jerry-rigging "swifts" for over a year, ever since I got my spinning wheel up and running, and now I've got yarn in non-pull-skeins that needs winding before I can use it. Maybe even I could come up with a swift like yours--it's so simple.

This is great! $50 + is crazy to spend when you can have a functional swift in a few hours by making it yourself; now all it needs is some bright colored stain and it can be beautiful too! :)

What does it revolve on? Is there a bearing in there, or just some kind of peg or bolt?

@barabi51
It's just a wooden peg sticking out of the wooden base, with the cross pieces on the peg. The cross pieces are stacked on two little wooden blocks with holes drilled into them, sort of bearings I suppose. Everything is stacked on that center peg. I probably only need one little wooden block, but two helps everything sit a little higher off the base.

I ought to paint it. That yarn is now a sweater :)
