@Vince95Inc It's the quake 1 engine that was extremely modded by Lord Havok, called the Darkplaces Engine. So you aren't too far off :)

Not at all. There's a lot about this game's backstory you don't know it seems. It started out as a free quake clone running on a modified quake engine... in fact you could try it out right now. You'll find out pretty fast it doesn't relate to Halo at all in the slightest.
