i like to write as small as possible which are better to write with foundation pens or the pilot g-2 0.38

Can any1 recommend a good first pen? I have never used a fountain pen, but I have always wanted to try. But I don't want to buy a super expensive one that I won't use again if I decide I don't like it, or a super cheap one that will make me want to not use one again because it's so cheap. Thanks.

@TimRosenTV It prevents the ink from coming out at all I think. I don't have that ring in any of the relatively expensive pens I own, so I doubt it's necessary for anything whatsoever.

Ok, I just got a fountain pen from "Manuscript", and it came with ink cartridges. How do I start using those because I want to use those up first.

@zero00tolerance you can try adding a drop or two of water into the ink to loosen it up a bit
