  • question for ya, you used track type studs with back plates i assume but how did you deal with air loss ? are you running tubes or tireslime ? i just got a set of "4snow" tires but haven't tried them yet. was running paddles last year and herd good things about "4snow", but i will impressed if there better than my paddles (hope so). if not i was going to stud a set razors i have. thats why i was asking about air loss. thanks

    perfect vid

  • @partsbenttoys Surprisingly, If you are using studs and backing plates; keep the nuts tight and there will be no air loss. Drill the holes with a "stud" bit though, it looks like a straw and makes clean cuts on the holes.

  • How do these skis work compared to a 4x4 in deep snow? Thanks.

  • @xJCH19x They get stuck.

  • @daddyrat The quad with skis or the 4x4?

  • @xJCH19x I wouldn't try my sport quad in deep snow. My spiked rear tires are too dangerous. I worry about getting stuck. While pushing out of a snow drift it would be easy to slip my boot or leg into them. You would be tore up instantly. Because I am careful where I ride, I haven't gotten stuck yet. Many guys have had good luck in deeper snow with paddles, probably safer too.

A 4X4 would be your best bet for deeper snow. Get a Renegade, they are a beast!

  • @daddyrat thanks for the info - it will be useful

another one for ya, i also just machined out two hubs to fit the steering spindles for skis. i plan to use the caliper mount bolt holes to keep them from turning (removing calipers) and using snowmobile spindle shafts to extend to the skis.the skis will pivot there same as a sled. i was just wondering if your ski setup had more of a tendency to roll back while traveling forward due to the extra leverage .. info is appreciated.

  • You got these beasts ready for the upcoming winter? Seen a few flurries today, its coming.

  • @joeylowthers yes, 39mm FCR carbs on one Raptor, a Vito's 720 stroker kit and 35mm FCR's on the second. I bought some snowmobile studs for my front tires. The front tires will be spiked to match the rear tires. :) I will bring out the skiis for heavier snow.

  • first snow fall tonight daddyrat. just a teaser. any new mods this year?
