Get ready to wire up your DJ mixer and sound card together for some killer live DJ sets. Reason and Record's stability and efficiency make them ideal tools for live DJ mixing. In this week's tutorial I'll show you some wiring and creative strategies to blast your mixes up to 11 and crossfade between song files for a non-stop mix.
This is cool, and also he's right, I've never had Reason crash on me. Ever.

Wow, I totally hadn't thought of this :-D.
Nowadays we even have time-stretching, so you could actually create a session per song of any artist you like, with a Trigger Finger locked to an NN-XT for one-shot samples or combinators with gating and glitching/beat repeating effects. I am definitely going to try this!

Seems reasonable...although beat-matching is slowly becoming a thing of the past.
It might even be cheaper to purchase ReCycle and save any of your completed songs as .Rex files and control your cues through the Dr. Octo Rex.

Hi James, I'm Andy. I noticed a Vestax style mixer in in the diagram at the beginning of this tutorial... I wonder, will there be a day when a USB turntable (like something from DJ hero) which could be mapped to a sample and therefore enable scratching...?

Thanks James, I would love to see a future one regarding remixing or adding acapella with your own loops and sfx.
