  • 2) That is depression, in my opinion; rational anger and frustration that was originally directed toward the outer world thats turned against the self because its not allowed to be expressed outwards.

The reason our species is in such a mess is because our basic biological needs (for love, emotional connection, security, freedom of healthy expression, and understanding, etc) are not being properly met, from birth onwards.

  • 3) And its a vicious circle; children who havent had their needs met usually turn into parents who dont know how to meet the needs of their children and so on. Its been going on for thousands of years and its not going to change by denying whats really going on, and hiding behind chemical imbalance and genetic theories!..

  • this lady doesn't listen

  • It's funny, the only thing that really helps my depression is researching ways on how to cure it.

  • I was an exchange student in the US 10 years ago, and I saw commercials talking about this chemical imbalance (which are not allowed in my country). I started believing I needed those drugs. Got me down the wrong path.

  • exercise, diets rich in omegas are helpful as well. Sometimes drugs as adjunct are also helpful. No doubt, somebody or family member in our family are under prolonged extreme stress. We exercise a lot. we also take vitamins.

  • @gurtjobby5 what if some of it IS genetic.. i always had chronic problems with sleep & social skills (antisocial) & i was always emotional & sensitive & uncomfortable even around relatives. no one ever 'remedies' these rare problems & it worsens depression 10X

  • NO 'ANTIDEPRESSANT' WORKS...at leats not for everyone. shit like carbs and exercsie dont work for people who were born "unhappy" or whatever. insomnia plagued me all my life, & i was afraid of people & did weird things. i still have this problem & nothing fucking works, no remedies for overly emotional

exercsie does nil for me too...i didnt feel any better after an hour of strenuous exercise

  • What we have now is a nation of people scared of their emotions. Get real, exercise, eat well and you will hopefully live a healthy fulfilling life. Relying on a pill to solve your problems is the wrong root to take.

  • 3) Im no professional but I know people are being told that they are genetically defective, and or, have a chemical imbalance, when really they need to be told that the way they have been treated by society has been terrible and should never of happened.

How disempowering is it, to deny the real causes and lump the blame back onto them by saying their bodies are to blame?...

  • 2) If its a cause then nothing can be done for society but mass drugging, but if its a result then society (us, the human race) must take responsibility for causing the problems and resolve to change its ways.

To make the changes necessary to prevent mental and emotional illnesses from happening needlessly would take a prolonged revolution of a scale never seen before.
