This disorder may explain what happened to me when I had my son in 2002. I could not walk very well and needed a wheel chair from the car to the special care nursery. I had severe anxiety and finally got diagnosed 5 years ago with Post Partum Depression and been on Effexor ever since.
I"ve had the same diagnosis for 2 years. I was really surprised to see a story on AndersonCooper360 last night (1/18/12) Where 12 girls from the same High School have all been told they have Conversion Disorder! They are being told it's in their head, it's stress, etc. Same old story that we all have in common. Is anyone out there finding a solution? I really want to get on with my life, but have been housebound because of the walking difficulties.
There really is such a thing as conversion disorder, but this is very rare. What is more common is the (mis)use of the diagnosis when doctors can't find what is going on with you when you have unusual/rare neurological symptoms. Is there a clear identifiable traumatic event in your life that you can't or won't deal with? Were you diagnosed by a licensed psychiatrist? Was (s)he thorough? Have you tried to find a doctor willing to treat you with anti-seizure medication to see if that would help?
heartattackstroke....you are obviously an uneducated ignorant moron!!!! i suffer from Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures,as do many people! i can have one or two in a month,or have 30 or more in one day back to back to back!!!! i can see someone trying to fake a seizure, but theres no damn way you can fake 30,back to back!!!
