is it still there?.

Thanks for sharing the vid... They last far longer in other places than they did in my hometown of Beaumont, TX. I still recall a pair of these protecting a busy crossing when I was a kid but they probably didn't last beyond the late 70's/early 80's.

There's nothing like a Wig- Wag. Only the best.

Looks like it couldn't wait to stop waggin! Too bad it's so beat up!
-
I hope they at least put gates, red lights and bells at that crossing! Though it is said to see wig-wags disappearing fast, ust leaving a sign there where the wigwag once was wouldn't be any better.

The bell could use an adjustment
Thanks for posting

We were very sad to see our wig wag retired to help service one in Fresno, especially since we moved in an exact copy of our original train depot (from another valley town) almost right next to it...
how did this get damaged?.

@ricofojas2011 Probably struck by a vehicle with a high load. But that's just my guess.

One thing that puzzles me about these wig-wags is that there is only one signal on one side of the track. If you stand on the other side, you can't see it much if there is a train in the way. Hopefully you can see the train, but that might not be obvious at night.

What year did they go out of use???

It's still in use AFAIK. Fresno has a couple of them, in the industrial/warehouse area just south of downtown.

Yes we still have a handful of them here in Fresno. This was shot last summer, but last time I checked they were still there. Of course, they aren't exactly the paragon of railroad safety, so I can understand that they get replaced. In Fresno, we have many other crossings that are safety problems so these are probably not very high on the priority list for replacement.
