They complicate it to the point of ridiculousness to pay a toll where do you pay it w/o a credit card I'm sure their hoping to make money on violations-

I still can't justify paying $36 a year for a lane that I used to drive for free. Looks like I'll be on the 60 now.

Wait what do you mean 2 round trips per month? I don't go that far with the 10 freeway. I go to Monterey Park back to Los Angeles and I like the Carpool isolated because I can go up to 100 mph if no one is in front of me. But it is Express/Carpool and I use it without a transponder.

You'll get charged for the second transponder. We have two cars and only one transponder. You can register multiple vehicles to (1) transponder. We mainly use one car, so we just move it car to car depending on which one we take. Also if you're using carpool I would recommend using them for 2 round trips per month each, then you don't pay maintenance (and carpool is free).

Technically, they don't. But there are a lot of CHP cars that hang out at the bus terminals (bewarned).

Congestion is actually down on the 110 compared to pre-Fastrak. I think a lot of people are too lazy to pay for it, even if its technically free for carpoolers.

I've been traveling on the 110 for almost a year, even leading up to the implementation all the signs have said all carpools will need a transponder, and there are signs that say all vehicles/carpools need them. This is how its been in NorCal for years. Plus they will let you bypass the penalty if you register a transponder and backdate.

Don't know how it is deceptive, there are signs that say "All carpools must have Fastrak"

The signage is deceptive: "Left only: FasTrak" or "Carpools only". You have to go to the Metro expresslanes site to really know all the rules, the most important of which, is to purchase a transponder to use the carpool lanes at all.
