The Pop influences that inspired Ennio Morricone's 'Spaghetti' Western sound!

Miles Davis and Ennio Morricone have many parallels. Born two years apart, they're both Classically trained horn players who were also into modern Jazz and Avant Garde music. Miles' seminal album, "Sketches of Spain" (1960), is a collaboration with the great Gil Evans; it's sunbeaten landscape of spanish horn keys, dramatic strings, and shifting dynamics anticipates Ennio's weestern film scores. Later, both men assimilated psychedelia and electronics into their work, with distinct parallels between Miles' "Bitches Brew" period and Ennio's "Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura"-era Giallo scores.

  • my dad would play this album at night when I was a child in the early 60's. This song gave me the creeps but that french horn is hypnotic...at least I think it is a french horn in the background.......love this music!

  • This is an arrangement of a song from the ballet El Amor Brujo by de Falla, another genius along with Miles and Gil Evans.
