What a lover!

Are we talking about Dylan Thomas here ? I certainly agree that 'AND THE ASS SAW THE ANGEL' piddles all over 'UNDER MILK WOOD' any day.

I don't recall saying I disliked Cave - he was my favourite singer for many years. I still like him a lot but I don't like his recent albums compared with those running form Tender Prey to Let Love In

The Mercy Seat is no less a Murder Ballad than some of the songs on the album of that name, though it's admittedly more than that. I agree with Cav'e own estimation that it's his best song - the first song by him I ever heard - since it operates on different levels and seems to manifet more than any other single song their unique Bible-black essence.

Then you must have been self-ironic when you chose to share your opinion on Mr. Cave commenting THIS vid, since this song is Jesus Of The Moon, so basically (simplifying things a lot) has "god" (reference to Jesus) and "pussy" (woman) in it, so you should ADORE Mr. Cave (unlike you previously stated) as the artist that wrote about everything you ever cared about in just one song.

The mercy seat isn't a murder ballad, and asside from the album murder ballads I can't see any others that are. Not that im saying there arn't any but its a few at most and significantly less that "half his musical career"

way to negate your previous argument.

Cohen was only deep in the sense that he continuously bored a hole in the same lyrical direction, droning on about was god and pussy. Cave and Dylan on the other actually breathe before they sing, and all that fresh air led them to produce new ideas lyrically and musically.
This guy is the greatest songwriter alive today. As good as Dylan at his peak.

I should think that God and pussy pretty much cover everything that matters.
