Founding Statement:
Muslims in Britain face attacks on many fronts. A broadly based campaign is being launched to confront the growth of racist attitudes towards Muslims and rising governmental and state harassment. It is supported by Muslim organisations, MPs, trade unionists, prominent members from the world of arts and media, church representatives
Founding Statement

Muslims in Britain are facing attacks on many fronts. These include: * The high-profile arrests under terror legislation of Muslims who are subsequently released without charge, creating a climate of fear and harassment; * An increase in violent attacks on Muslims in the streets and on Muslim places of worship; * The targetting of Muslims by the far-right British National Party; * Aggressive policing of Muslims on demonstrations, apparently designed to deter them from participating in peaceful protests; * The racist misrepresentation of Muslim views and practices in the mass media; * The political harassment of Muslim leaders by government ministers.

These and other developments threaten to create a climate of hostility towards Muslims in Britain in contradiction to traditional tolerance and damaging to community cohesion.

We believe that all people should come together in support of Muslims in Britain, and not leave them to confront these challenges alone.

We call for a broad-based campaign to confront the growth of racist attitudes towards Muslims and rising governmental and state harassment of Muslim citizens.

@R21301 The west shoud have nothing to do with muslim countries.Let people sort out their own problems.It could be that oil has a lot to do with interest from the west.We dont really know.But also i think the west has wanted the arab and muslim world to live in peace.But its been a complete waste of time.

These countries dont want the west to invade their countries.Thats why i think it is wrong for America and britain to be over there.

Islam will never be compatible with western ideas.

@R21301 As for America and Britain imposing democracy.Well i believe that it is better for the people of iraq,afgannistan,libya etc to have a democracy.It was good to get rid of saddam from iraq as he was a murderer,its good to get rid of the taliban who want everyone to live like we did in the stone age.It would be good to rid libya of gaddaffi,who is another evil man.

The problem is these countries dont have the same ideas as the west.Thats why its been a mistake to enter these countries.

@R21301 So you think there is nothing barbaric about sharia law?So there is nothing barbaric about stoning a woman to death for alleged adultery?Nothing barbaric about chopping someones hands off for stealing something out a shop?Nothing barbaric about the death penalty for blasphemy?People are oppressed under sharia and in no way should any western government entertain such a stone age law.

@jaysea32 So I take it you don't agree with America going all over the world and imposing democracy all over the world? I agree with you it is fear, fear to commit crimes which I think is more important to me than living in fear of crime. Again different perspective, different outlook, as a Muslim I find absolutely nothing barbaric about shariah law, however I do find the western system of justice ineffective. I don't shariah law applies to non-Muslims in Muslim countries, so nor would it here.

@jaysea32 I think the people that leave the Muslim lands are not leaving because of Sharia. Most likely it is due to economic reasons.  I am Muslim so I see absolutely nothing barbaric about Shariah law. Since I believe it is all from God I don't believe that any of it has to be updated. Humans make mistakes and will be updating and improving things until the end of time. Islam is perfect and needs no improvement. Does that answer your question?
