Idiot Golfers in Florida Lightning Storm

Filmed from my home...MORONS playing golf in the middle of lightning bolts just because it isn't raining. They say that is "doesn't rain on the golf course" but you can SURE AS HELL get killed when a lightning bolt a few miles long strikes you!! There is a HUGE BOLT in the first 1/2 second so REWIND if you miss it!!

What's funny is that it's actually safer to hold a golf club during a storm to prevent the lightning from travelling to your vital organs

There is NOTHING safe about being out in a storm. I mean holding a golf club might be "safer" than hugging a huge high-tension wire electrical utility pole that reaches into the sky but NO ONE should be out there like these morons

Assholes we have golfers here in the UK who are just like that. They will never learn what they don`t know is that lightning strikes golf ranges plus they are holding metal clubs hmmm very clever.

@scudderb so basically the "skin effect" takes over. It states that high-frequency currents tend to travel along the outer parts of an electrically continuous item. Thats why this is possible to survive a lightning strike. The current won't travel through you, directly through your heart, but rather round you. Search Arc Attack to see this effect in action. Basically he's partially wrong, it won't prevent it, it will limit it, since it isn't arcing directly to you.

@scudderb Hey, it's actually true. I will use an analogy. Ok, so do you know what a tesla coil is? It's like this spark maker. There are videos on here that shows a dude holding a pole and touching the arcs. At one point, the arc toufches him directly and his reaction seems more painful. Basically arcing directly to a person wil cause more pain since the current can travel a bit deeper. If it arcs to something else, physics takes over an I will explain in another comment since I am out of space.
